The Pulse is an album I started working on in October of 2008. The idea for it began as a return to my earlier style of music, more atmospheric and emotionally charged then much of the sample-based hip hop I had been working on almost exclusively for a year or two at that point.

As I began writing new songs and compiling old ones, I found myself exploring techniques and sounds I had never used before. In just over six months, through happiness and heartache, I finished work on the album and was surprised to find I had created something that sounded both exactly how I wanted and unexpectedly different. I felt I had successfully captured the atmosphere and emotion of my older work, but with an added amount of punch that I had not initially intended.

I built this website and released the album for free under a Creative Commons License on April 7th 2009. The response was overwhelming, and I’m still loving the feedback to this day! Click the album cover below to download it; burn it on CDs, put it on iPods, spread it to all your friends… and when you’re done listening, send me an email and tell me what you think.

WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT A FLAC FILE IS, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE FLAC VERSION OF THE ALBUM – IT WILL NOT WORK IN ITUNES AND IT IS THREE TIMES AS LARGE!
